Memorial Services Planned for Dr. Arthur Edward Thomas, President Emeritus of Central State University

The Greater Dayton Alumni Chapter acknowledges the passing of legendary educator and civil rights hero, Dr. Arthur Edward Thomas, President Emeritus of Central State University.
Dr. Thomas made an indelible mark in the Dayton region. He challenged those who had power and fought for those who didn't. While the CSU family loves to claim him as our very own, we acknowledge that Dr. Thomas' influence reached across oceans and nations, regions and religions, genders and generations, missions and movements, ideas and identities.
So, on behalf of friends and families, colleagues and students, mentors and mentees, artists, and activists, on behalf of the lettered and laborers, those who incorporated and those who were incarcerated, on behalf of those who could not vote and those who felt they had nothing to vote for.... we salute the icon, that is Dr. Arthur Edward Thomas. He was a voice for those who felt unheard. He was a fire; they could not put out. And now, he rests amongst the ancestors. May he rest in power.
