Black Family Wellness Expo

Black lives matter, Black wellness matters, and Black joy matters.

In the words of Leah Salmon, Nutritionist and Life Coach, “You’ll only be as happy and fulfilled in life as your health allows you to be.” As Black families work toward enjoying a happy, healthy, and whole life, we must be mindful of what is required of us to ensure this becomes a reality. Black lives matter, Black wellness matters, and Black joy matters. Our greatest wealth is our health. Good health is more than merely the absence of disease. It is a total state of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being.

African American families continue to experience significant healthcare disparities. All Americans should have equal opportunities to pursue a healthy lifestyle. A Black Family Wellness Expo, sponsored by the Dayton Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023, 10:00AM – 1:00PM. It will be held at Greater Allen A.M.E. Church, 1620 W. 5th Street, Dayton, Ohio 45402. The focus of the Wellness Expo is to bring wellness resource information to our communities regarding the numerous health issues that disproportionately impact African American families. The information will come from health-based organizations which The Links, Incorporated has enjoyed a longstanding relationship and new partner organizations.

Topics will cover the entire family needs – from infants to seniors – include prenatal and new-born health issues; mental health; breast and prostate cancer awareness; heart health; blood donations; organ/tissue donor awareness/sign-up; dental health; mental health awareness resources; suicide prevention; aging; dementia; care giving resources and more.

Primary Wellness Expo Partner – Premier Community Health, will provide bio metric screenings and health education to interested families. Other partners include the Alzheimer’s Association – Miami Valley, National Alliance for Mental Health (NAMH), Life Connection of Ohio, CareSource, The Norma Ross Foundation, Sickle Cell Association of America, MVOC – Community of Hope Ambassadors, Dr. Roz – Total Health and Wellness, Dr. Shanetta Sutton, DDS, Hoop Fitness, and Dayton Chapter NBMBAA.

Invite family, friends and colleagues. Attendees will receive giveaways and opportunities to win $100 grocery store cards and gift cards. For questions or additional information contact Dayton Links Expo@gmail.com.
